Conservation / Renovation
The conservation and restoration of buildings does not only have to apply to listed buildings and conservation areas.
The Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian family houses that many of us live in and take for granted can be preserved and restored to their former glory.
Houses like these period properties are no longer being built and many of the surviving houses have been degraded with the wrong type of roof covering, windows, doors, pebble dashing, etc.
As time passes these well built properties will become more sought after and valuable, more so the ones that have maintained their original features or have been restored to their traditional appearance.
We have found that when it comes to any conservation and resoration work there are two major factors effecting the normal period home owner - the cost and the prospect of future maintenance.
It is with these two factors in mind that the following pages have been produced. Whereas using the original types of materials would be preferable, it would put the cost beyond many normal house owners. therefore we have given an alternative, less costly, less maintenance required option to many of the sections.
